Seminar, three hours; fieldwork, two hours. Designed for graduate students in any discipline. Introduction to best practices for community-engaged pedagogy, with emphasis on reflective writing practices that maximize the impact of experiential learning as well as key strategies for collaborating effectively with diverse communities within and beyond Los Angeles. Experiential study integrates pedagogical study, critical reflection, and real-world practice. S/U grading.
