ME 166
Advanced Strength of Materials
Covers the mechanical behavior of engineering materials, with an emphasis on understanding the physical and microstructural origins of material response. Topics include the tensile test, elasticity, crystal structure and defects, phase diagrams, yield and plasticity, fracture mechanics, stress corrosion cracking, fatigue, cyclic crack growth, Weibull statistics, and creep. Theoretical frameworks are connected throughout to real engineering applications and design.
