Ethnic Studies and Education

4 credits

This course enables students to develop critical consciousness in relation to the struggle to develop ethnic studies programs in K–12 public schools. Students will discuss and analyze research, policy, documents, and recordings on ethnic studies in educational contexts from over six decades in California. Throughout the course students will reflect on how the concepts and questions that arise relate to their own educational experiences and lives.
