Seismic Steel Design credit:

4 Hours

Fundamentals of ductile behavior are established through monotonic and cyclic elastic-plastic steel stress-strain properties, plastic behavior of steel cross-sections under combined loading and plastic analysis with applications to frame structures. Capacity design principles and implementation in seismic design provisions are studied along with building code seismic design philosophy. Detailed coverage of behavior, analysis and design of ductile steel moment frames, braced frames and plate shear walls. Prerequisite: CEE 462 and CEE 472 .
