Market Design: Algorithms and Applications credit:

4 Hours

The design of effective market mechanisms is explored, blending theoretical economic tools with computational approaches. Market analysis and engineering techniques are learned for improving resource allocation and efficiency in matching markets, auctions, and digital platforms. Practical applications are emphasized, drawing on real-world examples such as online advertising, school choice, and spectrum auctions, where case studies and empirical analyses are incorporated. Skills in both economic reasoning and algorithmic thinking are developed for designing and evaluating market mechanisms. Prerequisite: Restricted to MS in Economics and Computer Science students or with instructor permission.
