ANTH 416
Archaeological Survey and Mapping
Course participants learn about archaeological survey, from both the academic perspective and from the perspective of professional consulting archaeology. Students become proficient at map reading, compassing, sampling strategies in forest and non-forest environments, and recognizing cultural features pertinent to the area. Participants learn skills necessary for potential employment with professional archaeology firms; this includes observing protocols with First Nation communities and liaising with government and corporate entities. Where possible, students have an opportunity to work with professional consultants. Prerequisite(s): Permission of the instructor
