This course covers thermodynamics and introductory statistical mechanics. Topics include temperature, reversible processes and work, the first law of thermodynamics, the second law of thermodynamics, entropy, the third law of thermodynamics, engines and refrigerators, free energy and chemical potential, phase transformations, and Boltzmann statistics. Prerequisite(s): PHYS 111-4 Corequisite(s): MATH 202-3
