First-Year Seminar: Movies and the Medieval Past

In this class, students explore representations of the European Middle Ages in modern films, examining how cinema has represented and distorted memories of the medieval era. Students will also consider how such cinematic visions of the medieval world might reflect the politics, culture, and social values that characterized the period of the film's production.
