HIST 77
First-Year Seminar: United States and the Caribbean
This seminar provides a thematic examination of US-Caribbean relations spanning the ''Spanish-American War'' in the late nineteenth century to US-Central America relations - with attention to the ''root causes'' of Central American migration to the United States - in the early twenty-first century. Students will study US-Caribbean relations as a process within the logic of competing national interests and conflicting national aspirations.
