Nutrition in Action: Applied Service-Learning and Community Engagement

This course provides undergraduate nutrition students with the opportunity to integrate their academic study of nutrition with community-based service. Students would get hands-on experience in the field of nutrition and public health as part of this course working with a community-based food or nutrition organization. Students will apply foundational knowledge of nutrition by engaging with community health centers, community gardens, food pantries, non-profit organizations, schools, and/or public health organizations aligned with students' career interests. Through hands-on projects, reflection, and collaboration, students develop practical skills in nutrition education, communication, and program implementation while fostering civic responsibility and cultural awareness.
