3 credits · Graduate

FDSC 875 is a graduate-level course focused on the science and technology of seed processing for food, feed, and bioproduct applications. The course emphasizes the transformation of oilseeds, cereal grains, pulses, and specialty seeds through cleaning, conditioning, dehulling, fractionation, extraction, and downstream processing at laboratory and pilot scales. Students examine how processing decisions influence yield, quality, functionality, and product valorization. Through lectures, laboratories, and applied projects, students develop the ability to design, evaluate, and improve seed processing systems within industrial and research contexts.
